Liberty School- Our Newest Featured Recycler!

Liberty school signed up with CFK in 2008 knowing that they would hold a contest for Earth Day, they didn’t know their contest would earn them CLOSE TO $800 AND A SPOT AS CFK’S FEATURED RECYCLER!

Read all about Liberty’s amazing success HERE.

Liberty’s first shipment was worth over $700, here’s how they did it:

1. They made a comprehensive timeline.

2. They hung posters around the school.

3. They sent out a press release.

4. They passed out fliers at the beginning of the contest, at the half-way point, and again at the very end.

5. They got the students involved.  Students decorated paper bags for each classroom in which to deposit their recyclables, and kept a running tally of each class’ progress.

6. When the bag was filled, a special student was selected to take it to the community bins in the multi-purpose room.

7. The principal made almost daily announcements encouraging students to bring in their items, giving updates on which class was in the lead, and reminding everyone of the end date and their goal.

Earth Day finally came and the winning class was announced. Over $700 worth of recyclables had been collected!

You can do it too. We have LOTS of great ideas to help your contest or collection drive do the best it possibly can. Find them all here, under “Ways to Grow”.

Here are some other top-notchers:

Leave fliers with your Chamber of Commerce and let local businesses do the rest!
